Import leads from a file

Updated Nov 20262 min read

Have a spreadsheet of people from a CRM, an event or a colleague? If it has their LinkedIn profile URLs, import it into a lead list. filtrat looks up each person and their company, checks the emails your file already has, and finds the missing ones.

Import a file

  1. On Leads, press Import file and name the new list. To add to an existing list, open it and choose Add data → Import file (LinkedIn URLs).
  2. Drop a CSV or XLSX file, up to 50,000 rows.
  3. Check the columns we recognised. Only LinkedIn profile URL is required (linkedin.com/in/..., any country version works). Email, Full name, First name and Last name are optional.
  4. Choose what to do with the emails:
    • Check the emails in the file: valid ones are kept; invalid ones, and emails at a company the person has left, are found again.
    • Find emails for everyone without a valid one.
    • Resolve catch-all addresses.
  5. Press Import.

The import runs in the background. Its progress shows in the bar at the bottom of the list, and people appear as they're added. You can leave the page.

What happens to each row

Your file hasWe do
A LinkedIn URL onlyLook up the person and their company, then find their work email
A LinkedIn URL and a work emailLook them up and check the email: kept when valid, a new one found when it's invalid or at a company they've left
A LinkedIn URL and a personal email (gmail.com…)Look them up and find their work email
No LinkedIn profile URLSkipped (the import says how many)

The email from your file is never lost: when we replace it, the lead's panel shows it under Email in file with the reason, and the export includes it.

What it costs

  • Looking up a person: 10 per profile found, free again for 30 days.
  • Checking an email from your file: 1 per valid or invalid result.
  • Finding an email: 20 per email found (25 with a resolved catch-all). Not found is free.

If you run out of credits, the import pauses. Top up, then press Resume in the bar.

Export

Export on the list gives our columns first, then the email from your file and what checking it said, then every column of your file as it was.

From the API or an AI agent

The same import is available from the API (POST /leads/lists/{list_id}/import/rows with linkedin_url and an optional email per person) and from our MCP server (manage_list with action: import).

Want to keep certain people or companies out of every list, such as customers? Upload them as an exclusion list. See Upload an exclusion list.
